Angie Zappone has been a healthcare practitioner for 30 plus years. She loves exploring the outdoors with her family, reading by the fire, walking her dog, and coaching soccer. Angie and her husband have 3 wonderful children, whose resilience and passion for life continue to amaze her, an awesome dog, a crazy cat, and a "kind of" cute lizard. Through her, and her family's own journey with Lyme, autoimmune disease, and airway issues, she has learned the power the body has to heal and recover, and the importance of looking at the entire picture - body, mind and soul. Through her faith, love of research and learning, and the determination to help her family and others, she discovered that the path to healing often takes you to unexpected places. Sometimes the struggles that you believe are a curse, end up being the things that make you learn and grow the most, and take you on an amazing journey that you would have otherwise missed.
Angie now views her past health challenges as a kind of "blessing in disguise". They have lead her on a different path, with exposure to an immense amount of healing modalities, brilliant doctors and practitioners, and amazing, kind, strong empathetic people. It has brought home the fact that we are all here as part of a bigger community, and at heart have more in common then we do differences. Angie has a deep desire to continue to learn, share and grow, and a passion to help others through her own professional training and personal experiences.

Angie is committed to her patients and works in collaboration with other specialists to delve deep into the underlying issues, with the understanding that the body functions as a whole. Angie has worked as a researcher for Sonicare, and been a Certified Nutritional Counselor since 2007. Of particular interest to Angie is using food as medicine, addressing gut health, and nutritional deficiencies, like Vitamin D, fatty acid imbalances, methylation challenges and more. She published an article in 2012 on diet, chronic inflammation and it's toll on health, for the American Dental Hygiene Association's "Access" Magazine , and was a speaker at the Pacific Northwest Dental Convention in 2013
Along with her 30 years in the dental field, Angie also wears other professional hats. She attended Seattle Midwifery School in 1998-99 (now part of Bastyr University) and became a Birth Doula. it was an amazing gift and honor to help new mammas through the birth process.
,Angie is also an Upledger Institute Certified Craniosacral Technique Therapist (CST-T) and an Avazzia BEST Neuro-stim Microcurrent Specialist. She spent 6 plus years working with a holistic pediatrician, Cynthia Keller M.D., and many talented Naturopathic Doctors at Centered in Wellness Clinic. Angie worked with physicians to effectively help address symptoms of concussions, scoliosis and other musculoskeletal issues, acute and chronic pain and injuries, TMJ/TMD and facial pain, stress syndromes, auto-immune disease and neuro-developmental issues, as well as nutritional deficiencies, detoxification and methylation challenges. Angie was the lead investigator in a study to determine the effects of Neurostimulation on reducing symptoms in kids with autoimmune encephalitis or PANS/PANDAS. The results were phenomenal, and Angie and Dr. Keller presented their work at the World Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine Conference in Houston in 2014.

Angie's family have often scratched their heads and wondered about her seemingly eclectic healthcare interest.
Alas! it now all makes sense! She has brought all her expertise together as an Integrative Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist. Helping clients to optimize their orofacial muscles & structure, in order to alleviate pain and enhance function and development, breathing, swallowing, and feeding, is her life's calling.
As she looks back at all her varied passions and professional experiences, It astounds her that it all came together, like her last 30 years were planned out to get her just to this place! In working with clients who have Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, she utilizes all the things she learned and practices in dental hygiene, craniosacral therapy and nutritional counseling. She also has the unique experiences from her days as a birth doula helping clients with latching and breast feeding, and the importance of certain nutrients on skeletal development of the fetus.
She is able to look at orofacial myofunctional disorders from a place of three professions; as a dental hygienist/orofacial myologist, examining form, function, development, oral habits, compensatory patterns, and genetics, AND as a craniosacral therapist relating and connecting fascial tensions of the body, head and neck, AND as nutritional counselor, knowing certain methylation challenges and nutrient deficiencies can also play a role in skeletal formation and healing.
